First Pool of SibFU Students in IT Academy of RUSAL and En+ Group

Siberian Federal University has launched the IT Academy — an educational program developed in cooperation with RUSAL and En+ Group. First- and second-year students (108 in total) mastering Informational Technology at SibFU joined the program.

The duration of the IT Academy training program is 3 years. The program includes modules on information security, web and software development, industrial automation and digitalization, network and server infrastructure, and introduction and modification of corporate information systems. Within the training process, the students will undertake internships at one of the RUSAL enterprises and contribute to the IT projects.

Upon completion, the Academy graduates will receive state-recognized certificates of professional retraining and vendor certificates. The best performing students might start pursuing their career in RUSAL or En+ Group.

Modernization of engineering training is topical. In this regard, launching such joint project as IT Academy is a consistent step, on which we and our good friends – RUSAL and En+ Group – have been working for several years. Applicants were subjected to a serious competition. Now the students are to join ongoing IT projects of RUSAL, attend lectures of invited experts, and undertake internships in serious aluminium companies. I believe that the students will demonstrate good performance, and the whole project will represent the prosperous cooperation of a university and an industry resulting in training experts with competences in digital technology,” noted Maksim Rumiantsev, SibFU rector.

“Nowadays IT experts are in demand. As an engineering company developing and introducing technologies, RUSAL is concerned about training highly qualified experts with understanding of features and priorities of real production and immersed in the specifics of our business. For the students of IT Academy this program provides both opportunities and challenges, as they will gain unique experiences, solve interesting problems, take part in ambitious projects, and even might find a job in the industry,” commented Natalia Albrecht, deputy general director for human resources, RUSAL.

To me, growing as an expert shouldn’t stop after graduation. High professionalism means constant learning. Our lecturers shared the information about the IT Academy project development, and I decided to join to achieve extra skills. I can already see the application of IT for complex systems. Gaining such experience and skills will facilitate job hunting,” said Polina Kalacheva, student, School of Space and Information Technologies, SibFU.

During the period of study, students are provided with a scholarship.

About 20 years ago, Oleg Deripaska, founder of RUSAL, started the initiative of supporting research and developing cooperation between the industry and Siberian educational institutions.
