Siberian Federal University 
Siberian Federal University offers for international students a range of English-Taught and Russian-Taught PhD's Programs in the different academic fields.
The training we provide is done under the supervision of the high-qualified researchers. During the studies, students publish research results in high-ranked journals.
Postgraduate training programs in Russia are the third level of education, which implies both the research and the presence of an academic component in the postgraduate training programs. The necessary prerequisites for admission to these programs are a specialist degree certificate (5 years of training at HEI) or master's degree. Postgraduate studies can last from 3 to 5 years. After completion of the programs, you may wish to defend a candidate's dissertation, the successful defence of which is necessary for conferring the degree of Candidate of Science in relevant fields (mathematics, engineering, humanities, etc.) In accordance with the Law on Education of the Russian Federation, the candidate's dissertation must be written in Russian and the defence of the candidate's dissertation is in Russian too. It is allowed to use the services of translators, but the costs of paying for such services are borne by the defender.
According to the Bologna system, the degree of Candidate of Science can be equated to PhD. To do this, the holder of the Candidate degree will have to go through the procedure for recognizing this degree in their home country. In the Russian Federation, after receiving the degree of Candidate of Science, you may work on a doctoral dissertation, after the defence of which the degree of Doctor of Science is awarded. This degree is equivalent to the degree of Dr Habil in the European system with the assignment of the academic title of Professor.
Entry requirements for all postgraduate programs include passing the entrance examination. Applicants take an oral entrance examination in the specialty subject.

The academic year for postgraduate students is held from September to May. (Classes begin in October). It is divided into 2 semesters. Interim attestation is held semi-annually at the end of each semester. At the end of the entire study period, the state final attestation is carried out.

There are two interim attestations in a study year: Winter Attestation (January) and Summer Attestation (May-June). During the interim attestation every postgraduate student besides passing exams and tests for the classes, reports on research activities to the scientific supervisor and related department. Candidacy exams
Three exams are required for graduating from postgraduate school:- History and Philosophy of Science
- Foreign language
- Qualifying exam (one by specialty related to the studied program)
