Evgeny A. Vaganov, SibFU Rector participated in the Second International Meeting of Rectors held in Guadalajara, Mexico (May 31 – June 1, 2010). Santander Bank hosted the Guadalajara Summit in collaboration with Universia – the largest network of Spanish and Portuguese speaking universities. More than 1056 rectors of the higher educational institutions of Iberian region (Spain, Latin America and Portugal) and 57 rectors of the US, Chinese and Russian universities took part in the Summit. Russia was represented by Moscow State Institute of International Relations, Moscow State Linguistic University, Siberian Federal University and Southern Federal University.

Rectors discussed challenges faced today by higher education such as consolidation of academic mobility, joint R&D projects, university mobility, transfer of knowledge and faculty qualification courses, international university associations, new forms and new scope of knowledge exchange.

The Declaration was adopted at the end of the Summit.
